Disneyland, Sebastian Stan, Selfies and Filthy Fanny

Friday, August 8, 2014

You may or may not know this, but I have a slight obsession with Disneyland. I know, groundbreaking. This girl (the crying one...) and I have a lot in common.
As it is the last week of camp, and tradition may have it, the field trip was Disneyland, also being probably the last time I go to Disneyland this summer. Bittersweet. I don't want to talk about it. You're probably looking at me like the other girl in that GIF. It's fine. We're over it.

I had Thursday off, so today is my last day of camp. Which is crazy but necessary. I love camp and all the kids, but it can be over. I won't cry. I promise. But I did almost cry at Disneyland because my group and I went on the Storybook Land Canal Boats, a ride I haven't been on since I was little, meaning I've never been on it because I don't remember anything. And there was a Cinderella chateau/dream castle/magicalness and our "tour guide" boat lady, who was named Destiny (like she was made to work at Disneyland) was perfect and kept making Disney jokes and it was just great. And yes, they probably have a script or something, but it's like the Jungle Cruise: if you have a bad tour guide who just says the jokes and doesn't embellish them and isn't into it, it isn't fun! But I digress..
Backing up in the time machine, the counselors began starting group texts for field trips. And yes we had them for the field trip to check in with everyone but it was mostly the camp director texting us asking how we were doing and everyone responding with general answers and me responding with way too many emojis... Why should I say okay/good/getting lunch when i can do the "okay" or "thumbs up" emoji or the fork and knife with a bunch of food and the child emoji?! It just makes more sense.. to me at least. But yesterday we had an "only counselors on the bus" group chat and it was the funniest thing of my life. It consisted of memes, GIFs (courtesy of the amazing new app called nutmeg), and selfies... Yes. We had a selfie-off. Don't worry we were still watching the kids.
Like of course all of the counselors all get super close at the end of summer. So frustrating. We're trying to plan an all staff BBQ but I leave next week, and some of the counselors are teachers and TAs and school goes back next week so it might not happen. But it's okay. One day, I will get bored and bring back those group texts. *smirking emoji*
At Disneyland, we got bombarded in front of Big Thunder Mountain by a cowgirl and a Sebastian Stan look-a-like (you know, the hot guy from Captain America?)
It wasn't him. This guy was too short. But anyways, we got bombarded, and were given cowboy names. Which was pretty cool. Minus the fact that I was given the name "Skinny Pete" and then they were like "ohjk you look more like a Filthy Fanny" like okay, thanks. The kids also weren't fans of their names so I was also "Lil Mama" for a while and "Cowboy No." Gotta love Disneyland, right?

COUNTDOWN UPDATE:
0 days til the last day of camp (it's today)
4 days til Justin Timberlake
5 days til my flight back to SF

12 on the Twelfth

Saturday, July 12, 2014

These past few weeks have been eventful, confusing, and very very interesting. We have hit and passed the mid mark of summer, which means there is  just one more month until I am back in the city by the Bay. But for now, we shall relive the things that I did this week. Instead of story time though, I am putting a list of things that I have noticed or learned this past week from my disney trip with the boy, HBOgo marathons, and camp.

1. I am obsessed/in love with my kitten, Meeko
2. I am addicted to Sex & The City, but I don't know what character I would be
3. My past belief that guys and girls can't be friends is slowly deteriorating
4. You tan more just by walking around Disneyland than when you lay out in the sun
5. Going to Disneyland with just the boy is very very different than going with the boy and two other couples
6. All cats need to learn to like each other is a little bit of time
7. Triple dates are confusing
8. Triple dates get even more confusing when three other people join you and there is a ninth wheel
9. The word awkward doesn't even begin to describe how it feels when the ninth wheel points out that she is the ninth wheel when we plan what we're doing for the picture and she tells us all to make hearts and she will do half of a heart (yes, this happened, I wanted to cry, it was so uncomfortable, and it was one of those do I laugh or no moments)
10. When on a triple date, make friends with at least one other person
11. When on a quadruple date with a ninth wheel, make at least two friends
12. I really like the guy I'm dating. (I could say boyfriend, but that's weird to me still haha, oops. I know, how gross, another couple picture, sorryyyyy)

Disney Date

Thursday, June 26, 2014

The fact that the two labels for this post are dating and disney makes me really happy. Other than the labels, I don't know where to begin with this post. I guess we can start with the bump in the road. On Saturday, I got a text saying that "the boy's" friends were not coming so of course I freak out and think that that meant that he wasn't coming. I was a little upset because we had already been planning this trip for awhile, but alas, it was just a bump in the road, and all I needed to do was change around the hotel reservations. So instead of picking me up Sunday night and staying at the hotel Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night, he would come down on Monday morning and we would stay in the hotel Monday and Tuesday night.

(Sorry for lack of pictures in advance. I honestly didn't take that many pictures because my phone was hardly out seeing as I was enjoying the company, and we were holding hands most of the time and I had my water bottle in the other hand so, no hands.)

Oh!!! And he eats!!! If you have been following my blog, you would know that I thought that he was a vampire... But he isn't. Kind of bitter sweet, but he does eat food!

Monday morning came and "the boy" met my dad. My dad was on a conference call so it was literally "hi, have fun *handshake* and goodbye." And off we went to Disneyland! We didn't think the hotel would be ready until 2, but we got there around 11:30, and it was ready. So we unpacked a little, and headed over to the parks! We started off with CA Adventure, after lots of deciding, because neither of us could choose what to do first or next.. like the entire trip.

And just for fun, here is a list of all the rides/attractions we went on once, or more than once:
Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion, Small World, Pirates, Thunder Mountain, Matterhorn, Jungle Cruise, Buzz Lightyear, the railroad, Peter Pan, Snow White, Pinocchio, Roger Rabbit, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Teacups, Astro Orbitors (I think that's what it's called), Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Tarzan's Treehouse, Winnie the Pooh, Star Tours, Innoventions, Muppet Vision 3D, Aladdin the Musical, Tower of Terror (which I am terrified of), Monsters Inc, Soarin Over California, CA Screamin, Little Mermaid, and then of course we saw fantasmic, and parts of the fireworks show!

Overall we went on pretty much all the rides we wanted to, saw some shows, and I even met the brother and brother's girlfriend. On Tuesday, we were in line for a ride when he got a phone call from his brother, asking if we wanted to get dinner with them because they were driving through headed to San Diego. Of course I said yes, but I was super nervous! But before this, there was a little drama, which added to the nerves. I wanted to take a picture in front of the castle a kiss in front of the castle. Which I got, the first night. And it was magical. But that wasn't the "drama" and I put that in quotes because it was only slightly an issue for like half an hour and then I was like okay what is actually going on. SO, we were taking the picture in front of the castle, and the guy was like okay "smile," okay "now hug," and then he was like okay "now kiss." And I could feel "the boy" tense up. He looked at me and I had no words. We just kind of stood there. Mind you, this all happened within a matter of seconds but in moments like this, it felt like forever. We took the kissing picture, scanned the photo pass (which of course is on his pass so I don't know how to ask to see it) and I got my phone back from the guy who took the pictures and the first thing he says after holding my hand is "what if we were cousins?" Like, what? And I kind of laughed it off, and just went with it, but while we were in line for the jungle cruise, we didn't talk. Like, I think that about 5 words were exchanged. I talked to the little kids in line, and he stood behind me. After a solid like ten minutes without talking he came beside me and but his arm around me. (Mind you, we have gotten to the point where we could just be together, and we didn't always have to talk, but still...) It was super comforting to know that he wasn't totally freaked out about what had just happened, but definitely there was still something off. Before the brother called, I asked him if he was okay, and he said that it just caught him off guard, and that he didn't know why a complete stranger was telling us to kiss, let alone kiss in front of a ton of people. Understandable. And after that, everything went back to normal! I thought I would be nervous the whole time, but I was super comfortable and totally myself. AND I DIDN'T PULL A BRIDESMAIDS AND PUT ON MAKEUP OR POP A MINT WHEN I WOKE UP. I don't think I've ever been this comfortable around or with a guy before... like ever. And on top of that we can be completely ourselves and just laugh at the stupid stuff (i.e. when he walked into a tree, or when I tripped and almost fell) and just have fun and be happy. Which is what I need and what I think I deserve.

Meeting the brother and brother's girlfriend was nerve wrecking, yes, but they are honestly the cutest couple ever. They don't make you uncomfortable, and they don't make you uncomfortable like sappy awkwardness, but they're a lot of fun and super sincere, and funny and whenever they would talk about something, they would be sure to take a minute to explain it to me and who the different people are, so that I could understand and take part in the conversation. They only hung out with us for a few hours, but when they left they invited me to come with them on their Disneyland trip in a few weeks, which I took as a total compliment.
Main Street - feat. "the boy"

It was great. I had so so so much fun over all three days, and I worried and panicked for nothing. Like usual. Whoops. When he dropped me off he met my mom, and I think she liked him, which is always reassuring. But yeah... I kinda like this one... Actually I really like him. (And he calls me princess)

In 2 weeks....

Monday, June 9, 2014

In the past two weeks a lot has happened.
I started working. I got a tan (or so I like to thing. It's really more of a sunburn that has turned into a tan, so I'll take it.) I've also eaten at countless restaurants, had a family weekend that went surprisingly well, and checked some things off of my checklist. But oh, there is so so much more.

Now that I am finally getting into a set schedule again (thank you, work) I will be able to plan blog posts again. As you may or may not know, I am working at a summer camp this summer (like most summers) and camp starts today!

In two weeks, something kind of intense is going to happen. Not intense, that makes it sound bad. Let's go with serious? Genuine? Something like that. Anyways, "the boy" is coming. And meeting my parents. And we're going to Disneyland. For multiple days. And staying in a hotel. And this is the first time we're "spending the night together." And this is the first time we're spending more than just a few hours together (at least he'll finally eat in front of me?). And yeah. So I guess you could say it's kind of intense. But not in the bad way! I'm excited! But nervous...
I'm not nervous we'll run out of things to say. I'm not nervous to stay in the same room as him. I'm not nervous to go to Disneyland. I'm not nervous we won't have fun. I'm not nervous it will be awkward.
But I am nervous that he'll see/learn things about me he won't like or vice versa. I am nervous that we might get sick of each other (although I'm really, really really really hoping this doesn't happen). I am nervous that something could go wrong or badly and we don't handle it correctly. I am nervous we might want to kill each other by the end of this trip. But again. I am hoping that none of these things happen. I want this to go really well. I know we will have lots and lots of fun. I also hope he's himself when he meets my parents, like if that goes wrong.. But we won't think about that! I'm also meeting his best friend and we're double dating so I know it won't be awkward, I just hope that everything goes well and that this is a step forward and not a step back. You know?

But that's just the beginning. Like what if when we wake up, I have really bad breath. Like Cady Heron in Mean Girls.

Or what if, even though he's seen me without makeup, it's not what he's expecting me to look like when I wake up. Like, do I have to pull a Kristen Wiig from Bridesmaids and get up before him to put on mascara and brush my teeth?!

And what to I wear during the days?! Do I go comfy Disneyland or cute?! So many questions.
I need your advice and opinions now more than ever. Please and thank you. And sorry sorry sorry sorry for not posting as regularly as I normally do! I am going to try to get back to posting every week day! (Key word try, but try my hardest!)

On Wednesdays I go on museum dates

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

I'm starting this post by saying that I actually really like day-dates. Is that a thing? It should be a thing. Regardless, today I had a day-date. Have I given the guy I'm dating a name yet? I think I did but that makes it seem like it isn't a real thing and if you follow me on Instagram I tag him in things, so it doesn't make sense to make a fake name.
Anyways, he came over this morning, and let me just start by saying that he was supposed to come over at 10:30 and so I set my alarm for 9:01. This would give me time to slowly wake up, check the social medias, and then leisurely get ready so I wouldn't be stressed or anxious. Right? NO. He texted me at like 9:20, right after I had just washed my face and brushed my teeth, "Just left the house, should be there around 10." Excuse me, WHAT?! Commence panic attack. I responded to his text with "OMG" to which he probably thought I didn't think he was actually coming over, or something else because he responded with "what?" I told him I was getting ready. I mean I was beginning to get ready, but that's the same thing right? After rushing to get ready, he texted me and told me I had time because he got stuck in traffic. Panicked for nothing, what else is new? He got here a little after 10, but I was ready so it was fine. We hung out in my apartment for a little bit and then headed over to the Presidio because we're both Disney fans so obviously we had to go to the Disney Family Museum.
I honestly had so much fun, like we're past the awkward like "do we hold hands?" or "omg he put his arm around me" and it was super natural and comfortable. For a museum date, let's just say it was perfect. And the fact that it was Disney made it that much better. Yes, that is what I instagrammed, and he posted a similar picture too. My mom wanted us to take a picture in the Presidio because, hi that would have been adorable, and we only have one picture together, but we didn't so now it's just an excuse to go back. And then he left because he had class, but he got stuck in traffic and didn't go. And I was sad because we could have been cute and spent the day together, but it's okay, I had work anyways.

Minor story time: In the museum, there's a huge window where you can see the golden gate bridge and I was standing in front of it and then realized he was trying to take a picture, so I apologized, and went to get out of the way. He looked super confused and I was like what? He wanted to take a picture of me not looking and then have the bridge in the background. I thought it was super cute, aha. But overall it was a lot of fun so yay to another successful date!

Also, random side note, this was my horoscope today:

"A date with a significant other could bring up discussions about plans for the future, Virgo. Talk could run the gamut of all your concerns, from the practical to the artistic to business to philosophical matters. The overall impact of this might be that it brings the two of you closer together. You might decide to partner on some kind of creative project."

And like, we talked about what we're going to do over summer... like that's kind of scary. My horoscope is usually super vague. Not this time. Kinda creepy. But the talk we had was actually really good and it's weird because usually it's hard to talk about the "what are we" or "what is this" but with him it's super easy, and we're both on the same page so it's not that awkward of a conversation to have.

So yes, that was my day! Besides this the only thing going on in my life is finals, so this is what I decide to blog about. Sorry not sorry.

Hope you had a fantastic Wednesday!

Mickey Mouse! Donald Duck! Spring Break turned into a blogging hiatus. SORRY! I got sunburnt so maybe that was karma. Who knows. So this week will be me recapping my spring break adventures, this should be fun.
DISNEYLAND! I have a season pass, but you knew that already. After our half day at CA Adventure and realizing we really didn't like CA Adventure, we went to Disneyland! There is something about Disneyland that makes it that much more magical when you go at opening. The park opens at a certain time, but Main Street is usually open about an hour before so you can go and eat breakfast, get coffee, get a locker, go to City Hall, all that fun stuff. At 9:00AM the voice came on throughout the park saying welcome to Disneyland, the park is now officially open. I know it doesn't sound that amazing, but I also turn into a 5 year old at Disneyland so, keep that in mind.

This is my house. Or, at least, the kids that go to the summer camp I am a counselor at think that it is. That's fine with me! Fun fact: for Miley Cyrus's 16th birthday, she stayed in the room that is in the castle. I wanted to do that, but I'm not a Disney Channel star so that made it kind of difficult.

We got there at opening, and went to Starbucks. (We went to Starbucks about 3 times because we were dehydrated and just wanted iced green tea. Oh well) My mom was at City Hall and I was getting our coffees when I over heard a little girl talking about the castle. Mind you this is right after I had just heard three teenaged girls say "Look how pretty Cinderella's castle is!" You can leave now. Wrong park. Wrong princess. Just, go. Anyways, so the little girl in starbucks looks at her mom and goes "why can't I visit Aurora in her castle?" *Props to the little child for knowing Sleeping Beauty's actual name*
The mom told her that she was sleeping and didn't want anyone to bother her. Then looked at her mother, I am assuming, and said that the castle is boring and she doesn't want the little girl to make her go in and up and down all the stairs. DO YOU KNOW HOW CLOSE I WAS TO TELLING THE LITTLE GIRL SHE COULD GO IN THE CASTLE? I almost took her myself. But I didn't. I just stood there, and let this mother lie to her child. Ugh. So rude.

BIG THUNDER MT WAS OPEN. But it was only open to the friends and family of cast members the day I went, and I don't know any cast members. But I changed that! My mom and I befriended almost everyone, and found out that they only got 4 tickets and had to go on the ride with whoever had the tickets, meaning they had to be off work. So there was a little problem in our plan. Oh well, now next time I have to go on!

In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room, I ate pineapple dole whip. YUM.

I'm sure I've been on Storybook but I don't remember and I always want to go but the line is always SO LONG and I feel like it isn't worth it. One day.

BEIGNETS! Or as the boy in line behind me said "bag-nets." And, of course, Mint Juleps. WARNING: Don't squeeze the lemon into your drink. It ruins the taste. It's just there for decor.

The turkey leg: before & after. (Between two people and this was the only protein we had all day. Totally fine with that!)

It isn't a Disney trip without Ice Cream! And I am pretty sure I ate my weight in ice cream. Okay, maybe not entirely, but basically.

THIS IS A CREAM CHEESE FILLED PRETZEL. They only sell them at one cart by Small World and they are $4 and they are heavenly. I never go to Disneyland without getting one. You will also crave them at random times. Like right now, while I write about them.

As we were leaving Fantasy Land, we saw the evil queen from Snow White (aka my mom's second favorite villain) and we got in line to take pictures. She is covering my shirt because I was wearing a Cinderella shirt and she said "Well I don't like princesses, so here, let me fix your shirt." If I were to be a character at Disneyland I would audition to be her. Or one of the evil step sisters. They are always so sassy and hilarious. I love it.

We were leaving the park. And I was telling my mom how much fun I had. And mind you we had only taken pictures with the evil queen because the line for Captain American literally wasn't moving, and then I saw her. She is a new Cinderella and she is so good with kids and she is SO much nicer than the old Cinderella (because I have met like the past 3 because I have a problem, again I turn into a 5 year old) and she asked me if her fairy godmother made my shirt because it was her face. SO PERFECT. Good job, Cinderella. You can stay. ALSO note our heights. Yeah, I'm Disney Princess height. It's 5'7 if you were wondering. I'm 5'8. It can happen. Maybe. Who knows, she was totally a brunette. Look at those brows.

And last but not least, I got the limited edition annual passport holder pin! They come out with one of these every year and make 2,500 of them but you have to be a pass holder and I never was, so TADA! I got it! And I didn't add it to my pin lanyard because I don't want to trade it... ever. So yeah.

My two days at Disney were magical and I am so glad I got to go over break! Thanks mom for putting up with me and how crazy I get at Disneyland! We were able to get on all our favorite rides, especially Indiana Jones which is going to be closed for refurbishment this month!

And None for CA Adventure. BYE

Thursday, March 13, 2014

If you follow me on any form of social media, I would first like to thank you for putting up with my constant posting and ranting. Second, you would know I went to Disneyland for two days! I have a season pass so this may not be surprising but I usually go with my best friend who also has a pass, but this time I went with my mom! She got the two days- 1 park per day pass, which we assumed meant we had to go to both parks. FALSE. We could have done Disneyland both days. But that's besides the point. This trip just reassured me that I really don't like CA Adventure and I really love Disneyland.

We didn't get there until like noon which was fine because we slept in, drove down, got a hotel, and ate breakfast. Totally fine with me seeing as there are only like two rides in CA Adventure that I actually like.

I don't like CA Adventure because it's super split up, there aren't any lands, and to be honest, it isn't magical. There is something about Disneyland that just makes me smile. (I will get more into this in my post about Disneyland) Whatever it is, CA Adventure doesn't have it.

I do love CarsLand though...
And I also love the Starbucks in CA Adventure, although Disneyland now has one too!

I am also a huge fan of the Toy Story Mania game, but only because I've gotten really good at it.
FACT: I always win at Astro Blasters at Disneyland.

I win!

Monday night we got dinner in downtown Disney and OMG it was delicious.

Disneyland itself has the greatest food for theme parks/just really good food in general, but I don't like any of the places I've tried at CA Adventure. Mind you, I haven't gone to Ariel's Grotto, so I can't say that I have tried everything.

FUN STORY TIME! (That you already know if you follow me on Twitter) While we were at dinner, a woman was making balloon animals. The table next to us had two kids. One boy and one girl. The boy got a sword, and I didn't hear what the girl asked for. She started making it upside down and I thought it was a palm tree. Next thing I know the palm tree has red hair and was Ariel from The Little Mermaid. MIND BLOWN. I want to learn how to make balloon animals. Let me know if you know someone who can teach me.

After dinner, we headed back to the park for World of Color, but decided to go back to CarsLand... again. Because it is one of the few fun things in CA Adventure.

And then we saw World of Color.

And it was magical.

And we ate churros.

Moral of the story is: CA Adventure is not Disneyland. It's just another theme park. I'm sorry. Yes, it is ranked above several other theme parks in my book, but if I don't have to go back to CA Adventure for awhile, I'll be happy. It isn't magical, it has a weird vibe, and I just don't know how I feel about it. I also don't like wearing my ears there. So that's saying something
(Mickey Mouse ears... that is)

Stay tuned for my post about the magical land of Disney!
