Hashtag Pressed

Thursday, November 14, 2013

No, this is not a juice cleanse I'm going vegan post. I like other food too much.
This is more of a I should incorporate juices into my diet so I went to pressed and bought three juices post.

Going to the marina is never a good thing. I say this because I usually always end up spending my money, whether it is on food or clothes. We headed down to the marina in the first place to go to Super Duper, and it was extremely delicious.
We then got the great idea to leave the guys and go shopping while they went back to school to study. I mean, Erika's birthday is approaching, so pre-birthday shopping is always acceptable, right?
Surprisingly, we didn't buy anything! Well.. just juices.

Right then and there we were ready to do a one day juice cleanse but realized today would not be a good day for that, and also that we had not been eating vegan for at least 24 hours. I mean hi, we just had hamburgers. So, after tasting half of the menu, we got three juices each to spread out over the next two days. The lady who worked there, even though she got very annoyed with all our questions very fast, suggested we just start to incorporate juicing into our every day meals, so we could have one with some snacks or as a lunch, etc... When I went home, seeing as we had dinner at 4 because we are ancient, I cuddled up in bed with a cup of green tea and finished reading Welcome to Our Hillbrow

Today, this was my breakfast, along with a piece of toast with almond butter and chia seeds. It was delicious.
Not too sweet, not overly bitter. Absolutely perfect!

But then this happened. It was student assistance appreciation day which meant all of the food. All of it. But I was good! I ate fruits and veggies and a stuffin- stuffing baked in muffin tins. Genius. And delicious.

After that, I felt a little guilty but still hungry, so I had my greens 3 juice which hit just the right spot.

This is my plan for tomorrow. Hopefully NyQuil lets me wake up at a decent time so that I can go and see this preciousness. If you have not heard, Make A Wish Foundation is turning San Francisco into Gotham City for a 5 year old, adorable child named Miles with leukemia.
Here is more information on the event, but I honestly hope I can try and make it to this!!!

Heaven. Superheroes. Thanksgivukkah/Christmukkah

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

I am finally reading a decent book for my literature class. The other books we had to read were no fun, or were too dark, or were just confusing. Now we are reading The Lovely Bones and Welcome to Our Hillbrow and seeing as I probably would have been scared of the movie The Lovely, I never saw it so I didn't think to read the book, either. As for Welcome to Our Hillbrow, I had never heard of it, but it is surprisingly good!

But now is my time.
Of course, I am also re-reading Catching Fire to prepare for the movie coming out next weekend. YAY! I am actually really excited for the movie, seeing as the trailer gave me chills.

As mentioned in my previous post, I recently saw Thor 2 and regained my appreciation for the Avengers. I don't know why, but I just love them and superheroes in general. On Monday I had to explain the tesseract to my office. Who am I?
Also, if you don't know what that is... google it.
To add on to the randomness of this post, I would like to say how excited I am for the holidays. But I am not THAT excited to start playing holiday music or start decorating.
I can wait until Thanksgivukkah/Nov. 29 to begin preparation.
I feel like every year, holiday prep gets bumped up a few weeks and this year's Halloween was like the normal Thanksgiving (the day after, the holiday season prep began and holiday music blaring). Maybe it's because of Hanukkah being so early? Who knows. Maybe I am just bitter that Hanukkah is so much earlier than Christmas this year, because I actually enjoy celebrating them in the same month, I don't know.
And for clarification, seeing as I don't ever think I have said this on my blog, maybe because I haven't had it for the holiday season yet, but yes, I celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas. Christmukkah!
My mom's family is Jewish, and my dad's Christian meaning I get to celebrate both! This isn't a "I get presents everyday and it's like my birthday came twice" no no no. This is more of a "we never have to decide which side of the family to celebrate this holiday with this year." My Hanukkah present came early this year, partially because I put it on my credit card and ordered it for my mom and I. But, I am going to see Michael Buble on November 29th, the OFFICIAL day to begin celebrating the holidays (: I am so excited!

Michael Buble Lands Fourth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200
I know he is a husband and recent father, but hi. He's gorgeous. And Canadian.

Sorry for the randomness of this post, I just had a lot of little things to say, so what better way to say them than wrapped up in a blog post of randomness!

Fuzzy Socks & Uggs

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

I wore fuzzy socks and uggs this weekend. Don't judge me. I went glamping. Camping in cabins. Yes some may not define that as camping, but it was pretty woodsy, so I say glamping.
My sorority had its first ever retreat in which we went off campus. We don't have a house seeing as San Francisco thinks that if 6 or more girls live in the same house it is a brothel, so this retreat would be the first time we would ever have a huge sleepover! I was so excited but so scared I was going to freeze. It wasn't too cold (at night I wore two pairs of pants...) and not having cell service was pretty refreshing (minus the fact that when I got service for 5 minutes, it was a text from my mom saying she was in a car accident. Don't worry- SHE'S FINE!). I definitely hope that this tradition continues, seeing as it was bonding on another level, and was a very nice break from the city!

Thursday night before we left, I went on a city-wide adventure with my littles (and honorary little) just for fun! The bridge was closed, which makes sense because people would probably jump, but it was still gorgeous! We also visited the school where Princess Diaries was filmed, which is actually a house, and ended up at Mel's at midnight. I'd say that was a successful night for not planning anything!
One of our activities during retreat was crafting! Because honestly, what is a sorority retreat without glitter...
And then I went to jail in the scary old western like theatre on the camp grounds. I sent this to my mom, and I am pretty sure she actually thought I got arrested. Because of course, the first thing I would do when I get put into a jail cell would be to ask the guard for a picture. Come to think of it, it's not that bad of an idea, I mean, we should document these things right? Back on topic, it's fake.
THE MOST DELICIOUS S'MORES. I always burn my s'mores, so this was a miracle for me!
Me and my littleeee(:

I pretended to be Tarzan. This swing hurt and was not stable.
When I got back on Sunday, I went shopping with Erika and we had a movie date and got Chipotle and saw Thor- which you need to go see, like now.
Monday was, Monday. And today? Today, I registered for classes! Woohoo! It also struck me that I only have 2 more of these registration panic attacks, which is kind of frightening but also very exciting! My classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so hopefully I can somewhat enjoy my weekends now!

Now that I'm back from the wilderness, and don't plan on losing service anytime soon, posts should be more frequent and I hopefully won't just disappear like I did a few weeks ago (:

Halloween in the Castro

Friday, November 8, 2013

Every year, for the past 2 years I have been in San Francisco for Halloween, I have said "We are going to go to the Castro." And every year, SFPD tweets and tells everyone not to go. And I listen.
But not this year. This year, I was a rebel. I say that in the lightest way possible, I really do.
It just hit me that people can't tell you not to go to an entire district in San Francisco. I mean this city is so tiny! Anyways, so we went. We did the Castro Halloween. I don't really have words to explain, it is one of those things you need to experience for yourself, so here are some pictures!

Hope you all had a fun and safe All Hollows Eve!

Approx. 51 Hours in LA | Wedding Time

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

This weekend, I flew home for the weekend. Approximately 51 hours, give or take due to the time change. Probably one of the most fun weekends I have had in awhile.
Friday night, we went to my favorite sushi spot and got frozen yogurt, which we enjoyed while catching up on Homeland. The next day was wedding day. After a trip to the nail salon, target, and the mall, it was time to get ready. I got ready while watching Hocus Pocus and Captain America: The First Avenger. Yes, those two movies are very random, I know, but I had like 3 hours to get ready and I wanted some form of entertainment. (I also feel like this may have put me in a overly happy mood since they are some of my favorite movies, which then reflected during the rest of the night...)

I haven't been to a wedding in about 8 years, or so. That's just a guess, seeing as either way, I was always too young to understand what was going on or "enjoy" the wedding to it's fullest. Not this time. Nope. I enjoyed and appreciated everything.
The food was great, the location was beautiful, the weather was perfect, the company was fantastic, and the newlyweds? Well, they are perfect.

It's always fun to see people from your childhood, and the first thing they say is "I held you when you were a baby!" or, "I remember you when you were THIS tall" as they gesture towards their waist, or below. To which the response is always the same, "Oh really?," "Well, I have definitely grown a little bit!" with bursts of  laughter here and there.
And then there is the infamous, "I'm sure you don't remember me..."
Which most of the time, no, I'm sorry, I don't. I remember stories of you, and people telling me about you, but if you came up to my doorstep, I would not know who you were.
Thankfully, that only happened twice at this wedding! That's right, I, the girl with the memory of a goldfish, actually remembered people. I even reintroduced myself to some people in case they didn't remember me!
So, I guess you could say that I was "that person" but hey, all in the spirit of the wedding, right?

The wedding was held at the California Club, and was absolutely beautiful

The most delicious cake. I had two pieces, sh.

Yay, family photos!
My dress was my prom dress from my senior year of high school, but I had people telling me how "fashionable" and "oh that color and style is perfect for Fall 2013." I picked a good dress, I guess.

The beautiful bride!

And, my favorite picture of the night. Captures so many things all in one photo.

The following morning, I was craving French Toast. After wedding problems or daylight savings time dilemma. We will never know.
We decided to head over to Blu Jam on Ventura Blvd, and ran into the CUTEST frenchie.
*insert heart eye emoji here*

Her name was Stella and I want her.

And finally, crunchy French Toast, mint water, and French press coffee. YUM.

All in all, my weekend was a success, and if I could relive any of it, I would in a heart beat.
