Falling Into Autumn | Pumpkin Scones

Monday, September 30, 2013

'Tis the season for pumpkin...EVERYTHING!

As a break in my study day yesterday, I decided to break out the pumpkin cranberry scone mix. I am not really a fan of PSLs, I know, criticize me now, but I am a fan of pumpkin everything else! Pumpkin to me is fall, transition period (November-December) is cranberry, and December is Christmas everything! In order to kick of this season, and seeing as I am currently burning cranberry/Christmas candles, I thought that these scones would be appropriate.

Unfortunately, there is no way to make scones paleo- you just have to use butter. But, instead of using regular or non-fat milk, I used Almond Milk (partially paleo?) and an Omega 3 organic egg. If I had canned pumpkin, I might have added some in, just to add in flavor, but without it they were still delicious! Enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea, or drizzle some honey on top for a sweeter taste, cuddle up, and enjoy!

Easy as 1, 2, 3 and 4! (4 ingredients only!)

Something New: Paleo?

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

To follow a Paleo diet means to eliminate the following:

Grains, Legumes, Dairy, Sugar, Processed Foods, Alcohol

To be 100% honesty, as a college student on a budget, this is near impossible. So then, what is possible? And why is this even a blog post? Well, trying to eliminate as much bread, dairy, and processed foods is possible. And this is on my blog because I am going to try this.
Don't get me wrong, I love my pasta, my cookies, my pizza, and tacos. I love it all, but after this weekend in which all I ate were sweets, candy, and pasta (and sometimes eggs for breakfast) in the rush and commotion of recruitment, I got a wake up call. A wake up call to start eating healthy, something that has been put on the back burner, what feels like this past month or since the beginning of the semester. Whenever I didn't know what to eat or cook, pasta would be my go to. And as delicious as it always was, it is not the best choice, and I know that. This is why the Paleo diet intrigued me. I will not be able to afford all organic food, and it will be difficult not to bake that box of pumpkin scone mix I have in my pantry. All this being said, I am giving it a try, and starting the modified Paleo diet. Modified for me. For my budget, for my schedule, for my body. With all that being said, here are some of the goodies I picked up from Trader Joes today, and pictures of my yummy stir fry dinner (and leftovers for lunch tomorrow!).

Choco-Cat | Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco

Thursday, September 19, 2013

This past weekend, I attended the Annual Chocolate Festival at Ghirardelli Square. These past few weeks have actually been sunny and nice weather- a shock, and very nice surprise- instead of gloomy, foggy, San Francisco. Nice weather of course calls for a cute outfit, and with fall trends in full swing, and summer to fall transitions going through wardrobes, I thought it appropriate to wear my new dress. My cat dress.
This dress is from Target and has little cats printed all over it. Animal print is my new thing. But not animal print such as cheetah spots zebra stripes, none of that for me right now. This season, and probably for the next year, I am all about animals on clothes. Call me crazy, call me an animal lover, cal me a cat lady, I LOVE IT!
Dress- Target
Necklace- Ambience (House of Harlow Knock Off)
Purse- Coach

18th Annual Chocolate Festival | Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco

Saturday, September 14, 2013

If you are a fan of chocolate, and want to know what it really means to be chocolate wasted, than this festival is just for you. Or, if you want to spend a day on the wharf with some good friends surrounded by samples, this is also for you! Today, Saturday, September 14, my friends and I headed down to Ghirardelli Square to try out some chocolate- 15 samples to be exact. Enjoy the pictures and live vicariously through all of the chocolate calories I ate! This festival was so much fun and I can't wait to go next year, but just a tip, share the ticket! You get 15 samples and that is more than enough to share! At each station they will cross off a number leaving you with 15 "x"s and a very full stomach and a sugar high. Maybe then you won't be in a chocolate coma like we all were. Next  year I will definitely be paying th extra money to try the chocolate wines and assorted drinks as well (;

Welcome To Your Twenties

August 31, 2013- My 20th birthday!

Enough with the apology posts, I'm back for real this time! Moving, starting school, and having your birthday all within the span of two weeks is nothing short of stressful topped with cherry. But over the past two weeks, I have had several life experiences, learned a lot, and now know how to handle situations if I come across them again. Yay no longer being a teenager! I know everyone says "you are only a teenager for so long, enjoy it" but I believe that you are only "young" for so long. I can't say I hated being  teenager, but I definitely didn't like it. After I turned 13, I wanted to be 16, after 16, 18, and after 18 I wanted to skip over 19 and just turn 20. Well that year is here. I am no longer a teenager, and I am in no rush to be 21. I want to enjoy this year, and live it to the fullest. Yesterday I was welcomed into the twenties. Someone literally told me "Yay, you're in you're twenties now! Time to live up to all the standards." I know that technically I am in my twenties, but let's not count that until I turn 21 (I know, it's kind of cheating). My twentieth birthday was celebrated this past weekend, Labor Day Weekend, and I had the most amazing time with my friends and family! My parents came up from LA, and my friends threw me a "surprise" party, and it was just what I needed. The weather, on top of everything, was perfect, which in San Francisco, never happens. On Saturday, my actual birthday, we went into Sausalito for dinner and it was actually hot. This is insane for the Bay Area this time of the year (it usually doesn't get hot until September- thank you for Indian Summers).
Here are a few random pictures from my weekend- look out for my meals of the weekend as well as updates on my apartment!

Hope you all had a fantastic Labor Day Weekend and didn't work too hard!
