Case Of The Mondays

Monday, December 30, 2013

Happy Monday! My weekend has been interesting to say the least! Hopefully you read my post from Saturday describing all of my Friday night shenanigans and now, we can move on to Saturday and Sunday! Yay!

Saturday was girls day. After watching a few episodes of Vampire Diaries, I headed to lunch with Christina and Erika. We went to Chin Chin and then on to Coffee Bean (I had a giftcard, don't worry Starbucks) and then shopping! We went to both Urban Outfitters and the Urban Surplus store, just because. I got a sweater with a dreidel on it, so that's fun...

Then we were bored. What to do on a Saturday night when you don't want to spend money? Go to a free museum, which was actually really crowded.. with LOTS of first dates. I mean, it would definitely be a good first date place, we were just surprised because we didn't realize that was a thing. Oh well, the view was gorgeous, the company was perfect, and we didn't even have to pay for parking. Yay us!

This morning we went to Crave and I didn't get the French Toast. I've realized that I only post the unhealthy things I eat on Instagram and I need to go on an Instagram diet so that will motivate me to eat healthier. Right? Right.

Then we went to the market, and then the Grove and look at all the succulents!

Then I came home, started season 3 of Vampire Diaries (stop judging me). Before we left for the movies, I went with my parents and neighbors to see The Wolf of Wall Street, I got probably the douche-iest text I've ever received. Like ever. And that's saying a lot. 1) It was form "Henry" 2) It was inviting me to a party 3) It was a mss text, like copy and paste status. 4) It included jungle juice.
I wanted to respond with a middle finger emoji, but Apple has once again disappointed me in the emoji department, so I left the text unanswered. Whatever.

Now I am off to work with a guy I haven't seen since he broke up with his girlfriend, so this should be interesting.. Hopefully in a good way. And then New Years Eve! Oh and my plan for New Years Day is to go to Disneyland, so I'm pretty excited about that because that means I get my pass! YAY!

What did you do this weekend and why do you have a case of the Mondays?

So You Agree, You Think He's A Douchebag

Saturday, December 28, 2013

HAPPY SATURDAY! A rare occasion here on my blog, but this is because I love my friends. I know everyone says that, and I have said that plenty a time before, but last night was necessary. It was the final chapter of the very very short story that is "Henry." Hopefully you read yesterday's post, if not, clicky clicky and scroll to the bottom.
Now that you are all caught up on my non-existent love life, we can get to why I needed a girls night. As fun as camp was yesterday, and as delicious as my mom's dinner was.. it was Crave time. And who else would I go with, other than my two other mouseketeers, Kim and Jessie. After flirting it up with the waiter at crave (he was a football player), we decided a trip to the frozen yogurt place where "Henry" worked was necessary. Some may call it sabotage, I call it bad karma. We did a drive-by, and believe it or not, he was working. If I went in, I was bound to punch something.. or someone, so I waited in the car while Kim and Jessie came up with a master plan inside. Please, get ready for the genius that you are about to read. Like, this is something out of a reality TV show or the movies.
They walked up to the register to get close to him so he could hear their conversation.

(We're going to use initials so we have H for "Henry", K Kim, and J Jessie, easy enough)
H: That'll be $1.65
J: Kim, I thought you were going to hang out with Kathryn tonight
K: Oh, I'm so mad we were supposed to, but she had a date tonight so we rescheduled
J: Oh that makes sense. Wait, we have a group chat with her, but I haven't saved her number yet. What's her last name again?
K: [My last name]. Kathryn [My last name].
H: *dirtiest look ever* That'll be $1.65.
K: Oh, right!

But of course, we couldn't eat the yogurt, because we just had delicious crepes...

We didn't know which car was his, and after circling the block about 10 times, we saw him outside and I thought we were compromised. I hid behind my steering wheel and we were in the clear. What to do with the yogurt? Well.. the plan was to casually place it upside down on a table. That's all. But he was standing at the window creepily watching, so the "place" turned into a toss, followed by Kim sprinting to the car to get away. Let's just say I had to pull over because I was laughing so hard I was crying.

I feel bad for anyone that ever messes with me or my friends.

Have a fantastic weekend my lovesss! (:

Feliz Navidad & I Got Stood Up

Thursday, December 26, 2013

You see, this is what happens when I don't blog everyday. Life. Life happens and when I don't blog every day then I have too much stuff to cram into one little post. So that's what we're doing here. Why? Because it's Friday and I at the end of this blog post is the story that probably what hooked you into reading this post in the first place.
But first, Christmas.

This Christmas Eve we did something new: dinner at Osteria Mozza

I thought I was really artsy taking this picture, so just appreciate it.

We also opened presents at midnight Christmas Eve seeing as we had to wake up at 7:30 to go to church in Long Beach.

After church, I made a gingerbread house...
And yes, those are reindeer antlers and a Christmas sweater.

And we ate cake!
This, of course, was after we had AMAZING prime rib, which, while making, broke the thermometer.

IT ISN'T CHRISTMAS UNLESS SOMETHING BURNS OR BREAKS.

And then yesterday, we celebrated boxing day, in which my mom returned things and all I bought were a pair of jeans from Urban. Why? Because I'm using all my money for my Disney Pass YAYAYYYYY!

And after shopping we went to Calabasas for some breakfast! Yummyyyy

So "date" time. Now I put "date" in quotes because it was never officially a "date" it was just hanging out. And on my Twitter I called it "plans" because I'm me and I do weird things, I don't know. So story time: I met, "Henry" (not his name, we're going with it anyways) over Thanksgiving. Super random, very unexpected, whatever. Sad part is, I met him Saturday, I went back to SF the next day for finals. Two weeks go by, we talk on and off, okay.
Kathryn, why haven't you mentioned anything to us before?
Well, I kind of did in my post on why I hate SnapChat, but mostly because nothing happened and honestly it didn't look like it was going anywhere. Like sorry, our main form of communication was SnapChat. I should've stopped there.

But no, I'm me, and I have to give every guy a chance, because I'm sure he's actually really sweet and interesting. Eh? I still don't know if that statement is true or false, but anyways, yesterday I get a text "we should hang out." Cool. "tomorrow?" Sounds fun. "I'll text you tomorrow (this conversation took place on Christmas) and let you know what we can do" Awesome, can't wait.
Yesterday rolls around, no text. I make a deal with myself that if I don't hear anything by 6, I am making other plans. 5:30 rolls around, my parents are buying movie tickets to see American Hustle and they ask me if I want to come. "Well, if you come, you come, if you don't we can get money back for the ticket." Cool. 6:30 comes and I say screw it and get ready.

Call me stubborn for not texting him, but I'm sorry, he said he'd text me and I shouldn't have to text him. Like is it bad for me to have wanted him to be excited to hang out with me? Yeah. Well, he wasn't. Clearly, because he completely forgot about me. When I got out of the movie, I had 4 snapchats from him. FOUR. And no texts. But the thing is, none of the SnapChats had anything to do with anything. Like, they were of him, listening to music. Oh, and I'm on his best friends on SnapChat. He's not on mine. Does that mean I win? Or does that fact that I made other plans and didn't sit around for him make me win. Either way, I don't understand "Henry."
Oh, and "Henry," if you're reading this, even though you don't know my blog exists because you don't like any of my photos on Instagram so why would you be on my Instagram profile and you don't have a Twitter (that was a long rant, it felt good to get that out), my parents want me to tell you they know where you work (they were there when I met him). I told them that was drastic, but I mean... I can't really stop them. Good luck, "Henry." I hope your New Year is great because I plan on leaving this whole thing in 2013.

And with that, we back our azzes up.

Not Feeling Christmasy

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

It's Christmas Eve! And I feel like Christmas isn't for another week or two...
I don't know what it is?! Take me back to Thanksgiving and I was SO ready for the holiday season, but now I feel like the Grinch because I am not feeling Christmasy at all. With that being said! I am blasting Michael Buble's Christmas album all day today, and if I watch TV or Netflix, it is only allowed to be a Christmas show or movie! That works right? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME! I blame the weather. It's hot and that means summer, not Christmas. Or maybe it's because Hanukkah was so long ago, and our holiday party is over that I feel like Christmas has already come and gone? I have no clue.
But, since the calendar doesn't lie, I had to do some last minute Christmas shopping at the Grove last night (which DEFINITELY helped me feel a tad bit more in the holiday season)

So, with that being said, here is my letter to Santa:

Dear Santa,

I am tracking you on Norad and you are currently in Belgium. That's cool! Instead of asking for presents, seeing as you probably already know what I want, cough cough Disneyland, I want to say thank you for everything. This has been an unforgettable year, through ups and downs, and I really can't ask for anything more. Now, I am at a loss for words. I would love to be in New York right now, I would love to have all of my grades posted and to have passed all of my classes, I would love to be somewhere cold and snowing, but I also love being in my bed at home right now. Of course, winning the lotto, world peace, lifetime supply of coffee, and a premium Disneyland pass would be nice, but let's not fly away in your sleigh just yet.

Merry Christmas.
Xoxo,
Kathryn Michel

Parties, Movies, & Celebrities

Monday, December 23, 2013

Before we get into 12 Days of Blogmas, here is a little weekend recap (yay, my favorite!)
Saturday was all party prep, aka the most stressful day of the year in my house. From cleaning to getting food, to actual party set-up, the tension is real. And then, of course, we have to get ready. Luckily my little came up from San Diego for my party and Erika came early, which helped us out, so the stress was definitely taken down a notch.

My outfit is all from J. Crew. OOPS. Lace top was originally $98, I got it for $31, pixie pants, and the gorgeous green necklace Nicole got me for my birthday! And then my black booties are from Target!

My favorite twins and my favorite moms!

Throw what you know! Of course we had to get all sorority cute!

And my favorite present of the night?
LOOK AT IT IN ALL OF IT'S GLORY. I can do a post on it. I want to. Is that weird? I mean, I might do it anyways, but still. EEEEEEP! For all you non makeup obsessed, this is the Naked 3 palette, and I am obsessed with it. I haven't used it, unless you count staring at it and swatching the colors on my arm?

Little princess knocked OUT after the party!

And then the next day was touristy day with Angie!

Sweet Butter for breakfast (only because we went to Blue Jam two days before...we should've gotten French Toast)

We were driving down Ventura, past Universal and decided we might as well just go to Hollywood and be super touristy. Plus, we want James Franco to follow us on Instagram so we though this would be a good start! He hasn't yet... He will.
Anyways, we got free one hour parking so we decided to take advantage of it. We walked up and down Hollywood and encountered all of the crazies. All of them. I met a man who was a rapper and he gave me his free CD. It was awful. Then Angie held a snake, and then there was a really cute Tom Cruise look-a-like but he was shorter than me so I didn't get a picture with him... Priorities.

Had to visit our favorite guy (;

And on our way back to the car, we found Walt!

Since we were already in Hollywood, we figured, why not just go visit the sign? Well the road I usually take up was closed so we went up to the Griffith Observatory. (Fun fact, I have lived in LA for 20 years and have never been up here! We didn't officially go inside though, so now I want to go back!) It was crazy so we parked on the side of the hill, took some pics, and left.

Christmas time!

Since we already did Christmas song, I am going to do Christmas movie, since I want to and can (:

I LOVE LOVE, ACTUALLY.
I love it. Buzzfeed had this quiz up the other week, so of course I took it. And I got Rachel. LAME, I WANTED NATALIE. But this makes sense, kind of? Plus Karl is a total cutie pie.

Take the quiz! Let me know who you get!

Of course, there is also Elf, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (with Taylor Momsen, yeah don't think I forgot about her when she was innocent...), The Holiday, Christmas Cupid (it's on Netflix, it's cheesy and I love it.), The Polar Express (you can't not like this movie, it's too good), and OF COURSE The Santa Clause (I love all three, but the second one is my favorite!)

Of course there are tons and tons of Christmas movies, but these are just my favorites!

Merry Eve of Christmas Eve!

Fabio and White Christmases

Friday, December 20, 2013

Today's post is going to be a short one. Yesterday I went to work, for an hour (we will talk about that another day, another time), drove in the rainy traffic, watched Vampire Diaries (there will be a post on this after Christmas...), got my nails done, and then went to dinner. I went to get my nails done and to eat dinner with my mom and aunt. As much as they drive me crazy, I love them and always have a good time with them, i.e.: we laugh so hard we cry. EVERY. TIME. Anyways, so after we got our nails done (mine are sparkly and gold), we went to cheesecake factory where I met Fabio.

His name isn't Fabio, I actually have no idea what his name is, but besides the point, he was gorgeous, and he knows that I think he is gorgeous because my aunt told our waitress that I was single and wanted him for dessert. I know, and we wonder why I'm still single...
After our delicious dinner, we came home and finished Homeland. WHAT THE ACTUAL F. I don't want to put any spoilers but, if you are all caught up, comment or tweet me or something so that I can freak out with someone. Like, what are they going to do next season?! I guess we will have to wait and see!

You know the song "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas," we all do. That's why that wasn't a question! Well anyways, that is what I miss. I miss white Christmases at Grandma and Grandpa's house. I miss fancy Christmas Eve dinners, and casual Christmas brunch and dinner. I miss Washington Christmases. I miss celebrating the holiday with more than five people. Of course, missing these things comes with remembering the thing's I don't miss. To only think that if my grandpa was still here it'd go back to the same, but it wouldn't. So I miss white Christmases and Christmas with my grandpa, from watching him in his rocker, to laughing at his sarcastic side chatter while no one else heard him, but over time comes new traditions. A tradition that is going on its third year now. A tradition that I love and would miss more than anything if I did anything else.

And on that Christmas-y note, today is "get ready for the party!" day in which we clean the house and stress about whether or not we will have enough food for our annual holiday party tomorrow night.
(Spoiler alert: we always, ALWAYS, have left overs.)
And I have no idea how I'm doing my hair or makeup, and the shirt that I was going to wear has a rip in it, but I have the tags and receipt so it's okay, but yeah. That will all be in Monday's post (:
