Is the happiest place on earth also the yummiest?

Thursday, June 27, 2013

This past Tuesday I went to Disneyland, YAY! I went with my best friend, Erika (who has a food blog! erikaeatz.tumblr.com ) and we thought maybe we should eat our way through Disneyland, and I mean, why not? Disneyland has definitely improved on the food game, and I can say without a problem that it is the theme park with the best food! Join us on our journey while eating through Disneyland! (:
We started off the day with beignets and iced coffee from New Orleans Square! Love these Mickey shaped donuts, so tasty!
After Space Mountain, it was time for lunch, and what better place than Pizza Port!
We chose the fusilli with chicken, yummmy!
I heard that one thing you had to try at Disneyland was the cream cheese filled pretzel. now I have had my fair share of Disneyland trips, but I have never had one of these.
If you go to Disneyland GET ONE!!! It was probably one of the best pretzels, no it was the best pretzel I have ever eaten. So good that before we left I wanted another one! But don't worry, I resisted! They sell these pretzels on Main Street and near Small World!
While watching the afternoon parage, we enjoyed some yummy ice cream from carnation!
Next we went to Stage Door Cafe where we got mozzarella sticks!
They were so yummy! But definitely too much for one person, so be sure to share! Stage Door Cafe is located between New Orleans and Big Thunder Mountain!
And for dinner we had some Bengal Barbecue! I had never gone to this little restaurant either, but it is right across from my favorite ride, Indiana Jones. I got the chicken and it was so yummy! The portions are pretty small, but still reasonably priced. I will definitely be going back here to try some different things!

Basket of Empties

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Back in the day, when I used to make YouTube videos, aka last year? I did a few "Products I have used up" videos, or "Monthly Empties." Since I have gotten back from Madrid, there are a few products that I have used up and I figured, why not write a blog post about it? I mean if I did a video, why not do a blog post, right? Well, I thought I'd put them all in a basket, and show you what they are, how I liked them, if I am going to repurchase them, etc, and then throw them away!

Products (from left to right):
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle
L'Oreal Eversleek Sulfate Free Shampoo & Conditioner
Boost Tangerine Woods Body Scrub from Bath and Body Works
Moonlight Path Triple Moisture Body Wash from Bath and Body Works
Benefit They're Real! Mascara
HAI Flat Iron (I'm still really upset about this one)
Deep Steep Grapefruit and Bergamot Body Butter

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle is just that! I love this product and have repurchased it several times. I have yet to repurchase it though because I am trying to give my hair a break of harsh shampoos and hair masks. Just for the summer though, and then I will probably go right to the store and pick one up! My favorite thing about this product might be the smell though (: If you are not a fan of coconuts, steer clear!

I loveeeee the L'Oreal Sulfate Free/Eversleek line! My mom has a ton stocked up in our house, so I will definitely keep using this shampoo and conditioner combo!

The Boost Tangerine Woods body scrub if probably my all time favorite body scrub... EVER! I love the way it smells, leaves my skin feeling, the whole deal! Only thing is, I only get it when it is on sale, so it's a good thing I have a back up!

Moonlight Path Triple Moisture Body Wash is amazinggg! This was my first time ever using this product (triple moisture body wash) and I used in it place of shaving cream. It is an incredible product! The smell is very relaxing as well, but I think its time for something a bit more summery!

I'm going to leave my flat iron for last, but the Benefit They're Real! Mascara quickly went from being my least favorite, to my favorite mascar within a few short weeks. When I first picked up this mascara I was confused about the wand, the texture, the finish, everything. Then I began layering it as the final coat in order to separate my lashes and leave a nice finish and oh goodness me, my lashes never looked better! I am one to always change mascaras though, so I am currently trying out a few different drugstore ones to see how I like those If you are in the market for a new mascara though, I definitely recommend this one!

Deep Steep body butter was a gift from my aunt, from Christmas I believe? But I wanted to save it for the spring time because of the scent! It came in a gift package with a body wash (of the same scent) also, but I used that up way before the body butter. It was a very thick lotion, hard to completely rub in at times, but the scent and length of moisture was worth it! I haven't see this brand in many stores, but the next time I do I am curious to see what other scents they have! As of now I am using some body butters in the tin from Bath and Body Works and Pacifica!

And now for my flat iron. I actually don't have it in me to throw it away yet, so it might just hang out in my bathroom for another week... When I went to Spain, I brought a voltage converter along with the different plugs to charge stuff. I used my flat iron once with the converter and it worked fine, but my roommate in Madrid used her flat iron and it burnt her hair! I was scared to use my flat iron after that, but one morning my hair was going crazy, so I made the courageous decision (Pitch Perfect reference) to use my flat iron. Yet, to my surprise, when I plugged it in, it didn't work. I took it as a sign, and didn't use hot tools on my hair for the remainder of the trip. (Mind you this was during week 1). When I came home on Saturday, I washed and blow dried my hair, and when I went to use my flat iron, it was dead. This was my second HAI flat iron, so I knew how to really check if it was dead, and it was.
I have purchased a new flat iron, and so far so good, but nothing will compare to my HAI flat iron.

And now I am going to go throw all of these trusty products out! Besides my flat iron, of course. Maybe I can revive it (:

Mommy and Me Date!

Friday, June 21, 2013

Last night, Thursday, my friend Kellie and I got together with our moms for dinner! Of course I had dinner dates with my friends as their moms when I was younger, but this was different because Kellie and I planned it. It was probably one of the most fun dinners I've had in awhile, and tasty! We went to Sofi's Greek Restaurant on 3rd in West Hollywood. Not only was the food great, the company was incredible, and the service was on point! I will definitely be headed back here if I'm ever craving Greek food!

Back to Basics: Summer Cleaning

Thursday, June 20, 2013

After the longest 4 days of recovery, I can finally say I think my jet lag is wearing off! YAY
(insert all happy emojis here).

I flew back on Saturday and had literally the longest day of my life. I left Madrid at 10:45 am, landed in London at 12 ish, and finally arrived at LAX at 5:20 pm. Meanwhile I spent 2 and a half hours from London to Madrid, and 12 or so hours from London to LAX, needless to say it was intense. After that plane ride I knew I needed a few days off, so I have been trying to relax as often as possible, which translates unpacking into throwing stuff onto my desk, OOPS!

But clutter no longer! I started a mini juice cleanse yesterday, which has definitely been helping, and i am summer cleaning my room.

Cute trophies right? They're from middle school! Makes me feel just the slightest bit old...

I also need to attempt to reorganize my makeup for the next few months...

And the jewelry, but thats another story (:

In the midst of moving some things around, I found a Christmas present! Guess I'm bringing holiday scents into summer!

But for now, I must return to cleaning! Then and only then will I be able to get some color and enjoy my beautiful back yard. Yay for motivation!

Month in Madrid: Let's Get Fishy

Thursday, June 13, 2013

To get this post started, here is what was going through my mind as I was getting my fish pedicure!

I am currently getting the dead skin on my feet sucked off by fish in Mi Calle Nueva York in Madrid.. It feels like my legs and feet are asleep. You know? That tingling feeling? Yeah exactly how I feel right now. Then there's a bigger fish and he feels like a little pinch but that just reassures me that I still have feeling in my legs! Now it tickles. How long am I doing this for again? Oh and there's no wifi! That's fun... And my appointment didnt go through but they felt bad for the "cute American" so they let me go. Okay this really tickles! Putting my phone away now so I don't drop it in with the fish.

Long story short, it was interesting. I'm super glad I did it seeing as there are no places in America that do it, but I wish more came with the price. The only thing I did was go, put my feet in the water, get some lotion; pay and leave. I definitely thought that an actual pedicure was included in the price of 38€ which is the equivalent to around $50, but it wasn't and they continued to blame it on the fact that I didn't call and did it online. Oh well! They also got mad because I didn't write in the notes that I spoke English. Like I'm sorry if I'm trying to speak Spanish!!! Oh goodness, well here are some pictures from my pedicure!

Ps I had to take off my toe rings because "the fish no likey."
Also! If you are very very VERY ticklish, I do not recommend this!

My feet are now SUPER soft and my only complaint is that there wasn't an actual pedicure included. Oh well, when in Europe right?
Now I am getting ready for dinner at Botin, the oldest, still functioning restaurant in the world!

Month in Madrid: Cafes

Sunday, June 9, 2013

Hola amigos!
This past week I have gone to two different cafes that I have absolutely fell in love with (and will probably be going back to because I was so impressed!)

The first cafe is called Donde Monica, a cafe off of Calle Serrano (Rodeo Drive of Madrid). I found out about this cafe from the my little Madrid blog. It is a little cafe in a brick building, down a little ally way. So precious! Here are a few photos of Donde Monica! I will definitely be going back to get their burrata plate though (;

Another cafe I went to this morning is called Mama Framboise. I went on a little adventure this morning and found the cutest cafe! It was a French cafe with Spanish classics.

To go I got a ham and cheese quiche, some macaroons (the pistachio strawberry one is probably the best macaroon I have ever had!), and some chocolates for my parents!

One week left in Madrid! I can't believe it!!!
Tonight I am going to dinner for one of the girls in my programs birthday, and then I have class tomorrow through Wednesday, and our final on Thursday! On Wednesday afternoon, I made an appointment for a fish pedicure. I'm kind of scared not going to lie, but hey, when in Europe!!!

Hasta luego (:

Month in Madrid: Prado over Prada

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

After class today we had our usual Wednesday field trip day! We had lunch at Mas Q Menos, our favorite food place right down the steeet, and then headed off to the Prado! We had walked out front of the Prado but were waiting to go in for our field trip!

We were not allowed to take pictures inside, but we saw the works of El Greco, Velasquez, El Bosco and Goya. I also drifted away from the group a few times to go see some other artists and fell in LOVE with this painting by Rico.

Following the Prado, we went to the Ritz for drinks. I had the best wine I have EVER had, granted it didn't have much competition, it was incredible and te atmosphere of the Ritz only helped (:

Going to the Prado was definitely one of the most fun days I have had in these 3 weeks. I have one week, 2 days left in this city and as much as I love it, I of course miss home. I can't wait to go home but I still have some things to cross off my list before I go!

Until next time!
